WHY DO WE NEED THE TRANSLATION BY A COURT INTERPRETER?
The court process on HPP Mokrice, in which the Slovenian Native Fish Society is a party to the proceedings, has reached the point where the defender of the river has to present evidence that HPP Mokrice and the other planned hydroelectric power plants on the Sava are neither sensible nor necessary in terms of energy nor economy. Since there is only one exisitng study on this topic, and that one is in English, it must be translated by a court interpreter to be eligible to be presented as a proof at a court hearing.
The court assigned this task to the Slovenian Native Fish Society and gave it a deadline of 30 days, so we immediately went into joint action and found the best offer for translation, but it still amounts to a high 5,500 EUR. So far, with our combined efforts, we have managed to collect 3,000 EUR. So we still need 2,500 EUR, and the deadline for submitting the translation is December 30, 2022.
Since it is an extremely important moment in the long-term legal battle, which could solve the Sava at Mokrice once and for all (and, as a legal precedense, at the same time help with possible legal proceedings against the proposed 12 dams on the middle Sava), we really kindly ask for your help.
A number of small or a couple of large donations can save the confluence of the Sava and Krka rivers from being drown forever, and at the same time lay a solid foundation for the fight for the preservation of the middle Sava, which is still ahead of us.
The best thing about all of this is that, in case of a favorable verdict, the court will reimburse us the cost of the translation and we will be able to use these funds for future activities in favor of the preservation of the middle Sava.
